DowntownStreetscape plan moves to public comment
A multi-phase proposal covering sidewalks, lighting, and storefront visibility along Main Street opens for resident feedback.
Staff report
City staff have outlined a phased plan for the downtown corridor, concentrating on walkability, lighting, and the visibility of ground-floor storefronts. Draft visuals and an indicative schedule will be posted as each phase is costed.
The first phase covers the blocks either side of the Main Street intersection, where the sidewalk narrows and the crossing sits off the desire line. Later phases extend north toward the civic buildings.
Residents and business owners can file comments during the open window. Staff say written submissions carry the same weight as remarks made at the podium, and that the schedule allows for the plan to be revised between phases.
